Position Summary:
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading key HR functions with a strong emphasis on benefits administration, compensation strategy, and HRIS management. This role ensures that HR strategies and practices align with organizational goals while supporting a positive and compliant workplace. The Director manages a team of HR professionals and partners closely with leadership to deliver exceptional employee support and effective people operations. Key Responsibilities Benefits Administration Design, implement, and manage comprehensive employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement (e.g., 401(k)), wellness, and voluntary benefits. Oversee benefits billing, vendor management, contract negotiations, and the annual open enrollment process. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations such as ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and DOL requirements. Provide clear, effective benefits communication and support to employees throughout their employment lifecycle. Evaluate and implement benefit plan changes based on market competitiveness, cost-effectiveness, and employee feedback. Manage self-insured plans and oversee benefits data analytics to inform decisions and improve outcomes. Compensation & Total Rewards Oversee compensation structure design, job evaluations, salary benchmarking, and internal equity analysis. Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement competitive compensation strategies that align with organizational goals. Support annual merit, incentive, and bonus planning processes and manage related communications. HRIS & Data Management Oversee the HRIS system to ensure data integrity, efficient workflows, and accurate reporting. Implement process improvements and automation to optimize HR operations and enhance the employee experience. Compliance & Strategy Ensure adherence to all relevant employment laws and company policies. Monitor HR trends and regulatory changes; advise leadership on risks and opportunities. Develop and maintain clear HR policies and procedures. Leadership & Collaboration Lead, coach, and develop the team to deliver high-quality support and solutions. Collaborate with Operations, Finance and senior leadership to align HR strategy with organizational priorities. Serve as a trusted resource for internal stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field. 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role with a focus on benefits and employee relations. Strong knowledge of benefits compliance (ERISA, ACA, etc.) and compensation principles. Experience managing an HR team and HRIS systems. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and influence across all levels of the organization. Overnight travel up to 20% required.
Preferred Qualifications:
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or CEBS certification. Multi-state HR experience and working knowledge of self-insured benefit plans.
Salary Range:
$145,000 – $157,000 commensurate with experience •Local candidates strongly preferred. This is a hybrid role based out of Hauppauge, NY.
