Job Description

Human Resources Director/Benefits Coordinator South Central TN Development District 101 Sam Watkins Boulevard, Mount Pleasant, TN 38474 The application deadline for this position is May 14, 2025. This position is under the general direction of the Executive Director of South Central TN Development District. The HR/Benefits Coordinator guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resource services and assists the Executive Director and Program Directors with policies and coordinates the implementation of employee-related services.

Examples of Work Performed:
  • Recruiting, including placing job advertisements, scheduling and assisting with job interview and awarding of benefits and compensation package to new hires;
  • Performs new employee orientation, explaining employee benefits, policy and procedures and executing clerical paperwork, i.e., withholding forms, insurance enrollment, retirement, etc.;
  • Conducts, plans, and implements annual enrollment transfer of insurance;
  • Updating employees on benefit changes;
  • Executing exit interviews with terminated employees, collecting keys, cell phones, passwords, laptops, etc., and cancelling of any benefits, phone service and e-mail accounts;
  • Maintain HIPAA files and personnel files in compliance with Labor Laws;
  • Maintain current required State and Federal postings;
  • Assist the Executive Director in the development of the personnel policy and procedures;
  • Manages employee services and counseling;
  • Performs payroll processing;
  • Performs other work as required.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate well with others and maintain good working relationships;
  • Advanced skills in customer service;
  • Skilled in MS Word and Excel;
  • Expert knowledge of vendor benefits and benefits enrollment processes;
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and work place policies;
  • Ability to write professional correspondences;
  • Ability to speak effectively with other employees and/or vendors;
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals;
  • Ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines;
  • Knowledge of labor laws and/or resources pertaining to such laws.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management and/or graduation from a standard high school with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Human Resource Assistant or Benefits Administration Manager.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Must provide valid Tennessee Driver’s License and proof of vehicle insurance.
