Job Summary The Deputy Title IX Coordinator is a highly visible role responsible for leading efforts to define, understand, assess, foster, and cultivate campus-wide Title IX compliance. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will develop and oversee programs, services, and initiatives designed to enhance Title IX prevention and education of students, faculty, and staff. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will serve as a liaison and strategic partner with other university administrators to promote Title IX campus safety, awareness, and education as essential elements of Middle Georgia State University’s mission, values, and strategic plan. Under the supervision of the University Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator is expected to develop and oversee Title IX programs for students, faculty, and staff; providing training in compliance with federal and state laws. This position is a Data Steward for purposes of Data Governance. This position is a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). This position reports to the Chief Officer of Campus Culture & Community/Title IX Coordinator who serves as the University Title IX Coordinator. Responsibilities Training, Outreach, and Education (40%)

  • Develop and coordinate with other departments to implement ongoing training, consultation, and technical assistance on Title IX, for all students, faculty, and staff with specialized training content for hearing officers, investigators, advisors, volunteer deputy Title IX Coordinators, campus police and other Title IX team roles.

Develop, implement, and coordinate campus strategic efforts aimed at the prevention and education of sexual violence and other forms of sex and/or gender-based discrimination and misconduct. Distribute educational materials in a variety of formats that inform members of the campus community on Title IX laws, responsibilities, and resources both on and off campus. Build, develop, monitor, and update the Office of Title IX website and social media for comprehensive information related to Title IX policies, programs, and procedures. Administration, Compliance, and Investigations (40%)

  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate disclosures, policies, procedures and practices designed to comply with federal Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act of 1972 (Title IX), the Jeanne Clery Act of 1990 (Clery Act), the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA), and other federal and state anti-discrimination laws and requirements.

Oversee and monitor compliance and investigation efforts of other campus delegates, departments, and offices (e.g. deputy Title IX coordinators, investigators, student conduct/discipline, staff and faculty discipline, advocacy services, campus police, counseling services, student affairs, faculty/academic affairs, etc.) and effectively communicate any changes in laws and regulations using various modes of communication. Coordinate and oversee the Title IX investigation process via informal and formal investigations of complaints against faculty, staff, students, and third parties, asserting violations of Title IX, assure compliance with federal and University System of Georgia policy and act as an impartial party, maintaining a high level of confidentiality and ensuring a prompt, fair, and neutral process for all parties. Provide guidance and assistance to reporting parties of Title IX violations including referrals to support resources, explanation of the formal complaint process, notice of the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, and notice of the right to report incidents to law enforcement. Assist with leading a Title IX Compliance Team by meeting regularly, monitoring compliance, identifying risks, mitigating risks, monitoring trends and making recommendations to executive leadership as needed. Coordinate, develop, and implement a climate survey every three to five years to assess the campus perception of Title IX safety and perceptions and campus communication related to Title IX; compile and analyze data for dissemination to executive leadership and the campus community. Data Compilation, Recordkeeping, and Reporting (10%)

  • Organize and maintain grievance files, disposition reports and other records regarding compliance, including annual reports of the number and nature of filed complaints and the disposition of said complaints, data collection, climate assessment, pattern monitoring; work with campus security and other administrators for data compilation in compliance with the Clery Act.

May serve as a member of the university’s Clery Compliance Committee Assist in external complaint processes, i.e., Office for Civil Rights; provide confidential data and reports; respond to recommendations for use by external investigators or legal counsel. Consult with
