JOB TITLE :

Human Resource Assistant

REPORTS TO

: Human Resource Manager SUMMARY Assists with company-wide day-to-day human resource operations. Provides functional guidance for human resources administrative support needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain employee HR/Payroll Database, new hire processing, new hire data entry, file setup and maintenance. Monitor employee data, field communication for missing info, field communication with codes for timesheet. Submit New Hire Report. Data entry and monitor background checks, forward results to HR Generalist and Manager for adjudication.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to respond promptly to customer needs and requests for service and assistance. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. Ability to consistently arrive at work on time on scheduled work days, follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance. Ability to observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization?s HRIS and talent management systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

One or more year?s related experience and/or training preferred Experience within the Maritime industry preferred Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations preferred Ability to communicate bilingually in English and Spanish preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

Most work performed in office environment. Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
