General Description of Duties
This position performs generalized administrative work in Human Resources supporting law enforcement and detention employees. The primary focus of this role is administering and coordinating leave requests under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and handling matters related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This position requires strong customer service skills in support of applicants, staff and supervisors. The duties may include applicant support, onboarding, benefits administration, compensation, classification, labor relations, data entry and management of HR systems and compliance with state and federal employment laws. Essential Duties
Administering and coordinating leave requests under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Handling matters related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Provide support to new and existing employees with various HR related topics such as compensation, employee benefits, onboarding, offboarding, employee development and recognition, labor relations, recruitment and data entry using the Banner system. Position description review, edit and creation of new job classifications. Complete and verify employee benefit and deduction changes in coordination with County. Establish and maintain digital files for employees and their human resource related documentation and records. Issue, update and/or distribute ID cards and/or access fobs.
Enter and/or update personnel database system as required.
Arrange, schedule and/or conduct interviews, meetings, employee recognition events and employee development programs. Assist employees with the Tuition Reimbursement Program.
Complete and/or coordinate survey responses.
Complete verification of employment and public records requests. Process and track requests for leave benefits. Prepare and/or update evaluation software NEOGOV database with employee changes. Ability to work closely with others as a team.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Ability to prepare and present clear, accurate, concise, and objective written and oral reports.
Ability to meet requirements and maintain required licensures and certifications as well as agency required in-service training.
Ability to adhere to the standards and principles of the agency’s core values and professionally represent the agency.
Ability to report to work timely, consistently and as scheduled.
Ability to perform all functions of the job classification without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

Eligibility Criteria
High school diploma or GED; and
Three (3) years of experience in human resources or a closely related field, such as payroll administration, labor relations, benefits administration, recruiting, employee relations, or related fiscal operations;
OR
Associate’s degree; and
Two (2) years of experience in human resources or a closely related field, as described above;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with
BANNER HR.
Experience and knowledge of FMLA and ADA regulations and processes.
Necessary Special Requirements
Must be able to lift, push, carry or pull a minimum of 25 pounds independently.
Work is primarily performed in a secure office environment. Position may require travel to attend various meetings and functions related to performance of tasks.
