Job Description

Human Resources AssistantPay Range $18 to $22 hourly (DOE)About VULKANAmerican Vulkan Corporation is a dynamic and diverse manufacturing company in Central Florida, exporting and importing precision manufactured products worldwide. This position is considered regular, full-time, and requires a minimum in-office schedule of 40 hours per week.

Associate’s degree or equivalent experience considered.

Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Certified Professional certificate will be required within first year of holding job position.

Valid driver’s license if operating company vehicle. Access to dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, forward calls, and provide information
  • Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations
  • Review employment applications and job orders to match applicants with job requirements; conduct reference or background checks, interview to obtain information on work history, training, education, or job skills; select qualified applicants or refer them to managers, making hiring recommendations when appropriate.

Schedule or administer skill, intelligence, psychological, or drug tests for current or prospective employees. Contact job applicants to inform them of the status of their applications

  • Perform searches for qualified candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, job fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals. Develop or implement recruiting strategies to meet current or anticipated staffing needs
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software. Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data. Ensure the HR Department is organized and operates to support employees
  • Interpret and explain human resources (HR) policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.

Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits.

Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures

  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), labor laws and ensure compliance of federal, state, and local rules and regulations
  • Thinking creatively, organizing, planning, and prioritizing work, developing objectives and strategies, making decisions and solving problems, updating and using relevant knowledge, interpreting the meaning of information for others, judging the qualities of things, services, or people.
