POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, HR & Administration position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management at United Way of Greater Greensboro (UWGG). The position formulates partnerships across the business to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization; along with oversight of its facilities and administrative needs. The Director maintains an effective level of business literacy about the organization’s strategic plan and its culture. UWGG is in the people business and this role will ensure a healthy and productive workplace culture where everyone works to realize the established mission and objectives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
People Services:
Promote a high-engagement culture that aligns with the shared values and stated mission. Serve as a trusted advisor in relation to all employee-relations matters. Monitor and strengthen employee engagement and team connectivity. Maintaining a continued organizational focus on inclusion and belonging. Support employee communication and feedback programs. Coordinate employee training and opportunities for professional development. Drive the performance management and organizational review processes. Lead succession planning process and support its goals and initiatives.
HR Operations:
Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required. Administer bi-weekly payroll, including updates to employee files. Partner with broker to administer annual benefits renewal process. Primary contact for all activity with third-party benefit brokers and consultants. Lead the administration process of job development, staff recruitment, and hiring. Facilitate all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews. Manage employee personnel files and assist the team with data management and reporting. Process transactions associated with new hires, compensation and employment changes, and terminations, employee verification, etc. Facilitate benefit and I-9 compliance, auditing and following-up as necessary. Review and establish personnel procedures, policies, and protocols. Collaborate with management around special HR related projects Facilities & Administration Liaison for IT support through external vendor, including: provisioning, software and equipment maintenance, and security awareness Liaison for work orders on building: plumbing, septic, electrical, HVAC, lawn, locksmith, etc. Coordinate & schedule mandatory inspections: fire extinguishers, dumbwaiter, alarm, etc. Coordinate communication with building tenants. Assist in coordinating security FOB and key disbursements/collections with supervisors/tenants to employees in order to maintain security standards.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proven experience working in an HR department; thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies. Natural interpersonal, communication skills and cultural awareness. Must demonstrate professional maturity and personal accountability. Must be dedicated to mission of United Way of Greater Greensboro. Must have a strong detail-oriented and resourceful mindset. Must be resourceful with a problem-solving aptitude. Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. Knowledge of HR federal laws and regulations. Desire to learn new technical systems as needed. Knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Must be SPHR or PHR certified. Knowledge HRIS systems; experience with Paychex preferred.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field Minimum 5-7 years related work experience; Additional HR training or experience is a plus
