Women’s Basketball Position Summary:

Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 12 month, full-time position as Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach. The Assistant Coach leads the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball program by recruiting and developing qualified student-athletes, supervising assistant coaches, and organizing schedules. The assistant coach must conduct the program in a manner that recognizes the primacy of academics by recruiting, supporting, and retaining student-athletes who will be competitive in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The assistant coach must ensure that the Women’s Basketball program operates in compliance with all University MAAC and NCAA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:
Recruiting:

Identify, evaluate, recruit student-athletes that meet Manhattan University standards in the classroom

On Court Coaching:

Active participant in practice and have a voice that is consistent with our team goals.

Scouting:

Prepare detailed scouting reports that prepare our coaching staff and our players to win Demonstrate through film breakdown, on-court breakdown, and through team meeting what we need to do to win

Player Development:

Prepare their skill position (wings) to compete at a championship level in the MAAC Develop challenging workouts that increase skill The goal at the end of the year is a significant improvement in their individual game Significant improvement by the time student-athlete graduates

Academics:

Academic Liaison with our Academic Advisor Monitor student-athletes academic group based on performance in the classroom

Community Service:

Participate in representing Manhattan University in Community Service projects.

Recruiting Coordinator:

(Domestic) Organize staff in our recruiting in recruiting efforts for the next 4 classes Prepare detailed recruiting boards for each class Organize the staff to identify, evaluate recruits throughout the year (i.e. school year and AAU events) work on events, lists and travel. Work with Head Coach to fulfill vision of what type of players are wanted in the program and work to give enough options that can secure a quality recruiting class each year Create an overall recruiting plan that highlights strengths, and a brand that will separate Manhattan University from the competition through our mailings, communications, and social media

Elite Camp:

Runs the Elite camp Organize the camp. Gym time, staffing, schedule, and misc. details) Promoting to get the best players possible to show up Creating relationships with the players to help secure commitments

High School Coaches Clinic:

Organize a clinic for women’s basketball staff to run 1-2 times a year

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of full-time prior experience at the Division I level in Women’s Basketball. Assertive, outgoing, hard-working and resourceful. Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups. Ability to design marketing materials; proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Adobe Photoshop preferred. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Possess a valid driver’s license. Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve. Ability to work effectively with coaches, students, faculty, administration, alumni, and community.
