As we continue to grow, we seek a dedicated Human Resources Assistant to join our team and support our mission. Position Summary The Human Resources Assistant will manage and enhance all aspects of human resources within the organization ensuring compliance with New York State employment laws and regulations. This role is pivotal in supporting the recruitment, development, and well-being of our staff, contributing to a positive and effective workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities Recruitment & Staffing:
Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, pre- screening interviews, and hiring confirmations. Ensure all job advertisements comply with New York’s salary transparency law, which requires employers to include proposed pay rates in job ads to address wage disparities and promote equal pay .
Pre-Boarding, Orientation, Onboarding & Offboarding:
Facilitate comprehensive orientation for new hires, ensuring all necessary pre-boarding documentation is completed. Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews and the return of company property.
Employee Relations:
Act as a liaison between staff and management, addressing concerns and fostering a supportive work environment. Ensure compliance with New York State’s Human Rights Law, which prohibits discrimination based on various protected characteristics, including race, gender identity, disability, and more .
Training & Development:
Assist with the coordinate ongoing training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge. Ensure that all training materials and sessions comply with state regulations and best practices. Monitor staff’s required training hours and mandated trainings as required by New York’s City’s laws.
Compliance & Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records. Stay abreast of changes in New York State employment laws, including those related to wage and hour regulations, to ensure the center’s policies remain compliant.
Benefits Administration:
Oversee employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement plans. Ensure that benefits offerings are competitive and compliant with state and federal regulations. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources, preferably within an educational or childcare setting. In-depth knowledge of New York State employment laws and regulations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism. Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Why Join Us?
