PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide Preventing Managing Crisis Intervention Situations and TRUST trainings for New York City Health + Hospitals staff. To ensure staff receives de-escalation skills that they may utilize on the job.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Training New Employee Orientation and Systemwide New Employee Orientation Support training for Computer classes, CPR certifications, seminars

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Train staff in identifying patient characteristics, staff behaviors, and other variables that may trigger agitated/aggressive patient behavior (s) and formalized methods and techniques of patient de-escalation crisis management.
Lead or co-lead staff training and discussion groups in areas such as crisis management techniques and practices.
Develop training materials, conduct staff training, observe staff perform crisis and/or de-escalation interventions, therapeutic observations, engagements, patient supervision, and other behavioral health related duties in order to improve patient-staff interactions.
Prepares for all in-house Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations (PMCS) trainings along with New Employee Orientation; securing training room, confirmation notices, attendance sheets, and ordering and gathering training materials/packets.
Create and maintain training calendar.
Assess potential risks and devise preventive measures.
Develop and implement crisis management plans and procedures.
Coordinate and communicate with stakeholders during a crisis.
Train and guide staff on crisis management procedures.
Monitor crisis situations and adjust strategies as needed.
Report on crisis aftermath, detailing cause, response, and necessary changes to prevent recurrence.
Conduct detailed assessments of individuals in crisis.
Develop individualized crisis management plans.
Provide immediate support and stabilization when responding to codes.
Provide immediate counseling.
Develop crisis management plans.
Ideal candidates should have compassion, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues and crisis.
Workplace Violence designee.
Investigate WVP incidents and provide input when necessary to Labor Relations and Risk Management.
Performs other related duties as needed assigned.
Minimum Qualifications 1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Public Health, Psychology, Personnel Administration, Management or Public Administration or a related approved discipline; and, 2. Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in planning and manpower development and training programs, medical or public health administration or other fields related to training, development and manpower analysis, of which at least three (3) years have been in a managerial, supervisory or administrative capacity related to the organization, formulation, development and implementation of such plans and programs; or, 3. A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Management, Social Work, Medical Administration, Psychology, Personnel Administration, Public Administration or a related approved field, with seven (7) years of experience as described in item #2 and two (2) years in a managerial, supervisory or administrative capacity; and, 4. Extensive knowledge of the principles of training and manpower development programs and ability to analyze and determine the needs of the Corporation; or, 5.
