Job Description:

SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a Full-Time Human Resources Assistant in the Office of Human Resources. Reporting to the Executive Director for Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant assists in the administration of the College’s human resources functions, including recruitment and employment activities, classification andpensation, benefits, management of performance and evaluation files, and training and professional development. The Human Resources Assistant also assists the Executive Director in ensuringpliance with federal and state regulations governing personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as the primary administrative support to the Executive Director
Provides clerical support to the HR department
Maintains multiple appointment calendars
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of physical and electronic human resource files and records, including maintaining accurate andplete personnel files including and the preparation of new files and purging of inactive files
Works with office staff to update and maintain documents on SharePoint and College website
Assists inpiling information and statistics for department and regulatory reporting
Reviews and maintains department specific logs and materials for regulatory and policypliance
Assists with development, implementation andmunication of polices
Assists with administrative duties with regard to recruitment such as scheduling interviews, scheduling new employee orientation, conducting background checks, drafting of employment offer letters, creating personnel files
Provides administrative support with the planning and coordination of special events such as the employee service awards program, benefits enrollment, professional training and development
Maintains a database of employees for service awards, tenure, and promotions
Drafts, maintains and updates forms andmunication materials
Answers frequently asked questions from customers including applicants, employees, and former employees relative to their application status, onboarding, benefits, HR system inquiries, and standard policies and procedures; refers moreplex questions to appropriate staff or management.
Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
At least one (1) year experience working directly in a human resources role
At least one (1) year experience as an administrative assistant for an Executive leader.
Strongputer skills, including experience manipulating excel spreadsheets, drafting and modifyingmunication materials, and data management
Ability to work independently and with all levels of staff and faculty
Interpersonal with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Successful candidate must be customer service oriented and possess excellent written and verbalmunication skills, be able to prioritize workflow, multi-task, and be resourceful.

Preferred Qualifications:

Human Resource experience in amunity college, higher education or public sector environment
Knowledge of HR Banner enterprise system
Knowledge of Interview Exchange applicant tracking system

Salary:

$52,000
