Position Summary :
The HR Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources Department. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of HR practices, compliance and a passion for supporting a team dedicated to serving veterans. The coordinator will be involved in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration and maintaining compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.
Responsibilities :
Manage recruitment and onboarding processes, including sourcing, interviewing, background checks and new employee orientation. Assists in the administration of HR programs, including compensation, benefits, and leave. Responds to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures Maintain employee records and ensure HR compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures. Support employee relations, performance management and training initiatives. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. SHRM-CP or other HR certification is a plus. Minimum five years of HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or social services environment. Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and procedures and knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO). Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Highly organized and detail-oriented; strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate. Consistently demonstrates integrity, maintaining a professional demeanor and respecting sensitive information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems, specifically ADP Workforce Now. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and navigate the organization’s facilities. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and automobile insurance.
