Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support the HR department in key areas, including recruitment and staffing, onboarding, employee relations, payroll and benefits administration, and organizing special event volunteers. While this role reports to the Director of Human Resources, it offers hands-on experience across various HR functions, allowing for exposure to a wide range of responsibilities. Supports the needs of Riverbanks’ recruitment strategy by evaluating applications, maintains applicants’ documentation, and assists with criminal and credit background checks, and employment verification program. Reviews HR paperwork, policies, and procedures with new hires at orientation. Prepares and maintains the employee handbook, ensuring it is up to date. Ensures payroll and government forms are current and compliant. Input employee data into the payroll system, including new hires, and pay rate changes. Assist in the planning and coordination of events and programs for both employees and volunteers. Performs administrative tasks, such as filing, ordering office supplies, tracking inventory, and processing purchase orders for invoices.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, candidates with at least two years of relevant professional experience, particularly in administrative roles, are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate for this role will have an understanding of labor laws and equity regulations, allowing them to navigate HR matters with confidence and care. They are someone who strives for excellence in both written and verbal interactions, always keeping a high standard of service in mind. In addition to being detail-oriented and confidential, they thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with colleagues at all levels. They understand the importance of teamwork and are eager to engage with others, offering support when needed and seeking guidance when necessary. This individual is highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other computer applications is key, but it’s their ability to learn and adapt quickly to new tools and systems that will make them stand out!
