Job Description

Human Resource Generalist Island Entertainment Orange Beach, AL 36561 The Human Resource (HR) Generalist will work across multiple business entities to provide professional human resources support through work focused on Talent Acquisition, Classification and Compensation, Training and Employee Development, and Benefits Administration as well as in other HR related areas. The Human Resource Generalist will assist in running the daily functions of the HR department including hiring, interviewing, and onboarding staff, answering employee inquiries, and enforcing company policies and practices with additional accounting support responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as a consultant to all business units regarding employment, compensation, employee relations, and other human resources matters by providing a wide variety of information to employees and management concerning human resources programs, policies, and procedures as well as interpretation of laws and regulations
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
  • Assist with benefits administration process including enrollment and deduction audits
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs
  • Supports HR team with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments which may include safety training, anti-harassment training, licensure, and coordinating sessions across business units
  • Assists in improving operations and efficiencies by conducting research and providing technical analysis
  • Oversee employee recognition/ engagement events in partnership with the marketing team
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Manager/ HR Director
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices including reviewing policies and practices to ensure compliance
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Demands
  • Must be able to read and communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers, management, and guests
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to travel to and navigate multiple facilities associate with the various business units including traversing uneven ground and stairs
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in human resources or related field; or, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Professional human resources certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.
