Lauderdale, FL 33301 or visiting our website at http://www.17th.flcourts.org/the-employment-opportunities/ •Distinguishing Characteristics of Work This is responsible work performing complex and varied administrative work in daily operations of the Court Administrator’s Personnel Unit.

Duties include:

maintaining personnel records and data bases for State and County funded active and inactive employees; completing appropriate paperwork for personnel actions; processing accommodation requests in accordance with the ADA; completing payroll vouchers; certifying payroll for judicial and non-judicial employees; posting and distributing Notices of Vacancies for court positions; coordinating parking assignments and security cards for court personnel; maintaining records and processing certification for additional compensation for County Judges performing Circuit Judge duties; processing requests and maintaining records for Senior Judge compensation; responding to in-person and telephone inquiries concerning personnel related matters; providing information or directing to appropriate resource; generating correspondence, notices, memos, reports and other documentation as provided; ensuring necessary copies of pertinent forms, materials, reports, records and documents are made, distributed, and filed. The Human Resources Specialist II receives and logs applications for vacant positions; coordinates interviews for vacant positions, prepares interview schedules, conducts

background checks, checks references; receives employee time sheets monthly and biweekly; checks for adherence to FLSA regulations; posts in database; prepares time accrual reports and distributes to employees; coordinates and administers testing for court positions as required; scores tests; and maintains records. The Personnel Specialist operates a variety of common modern office equipment; i.e. computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines and performs related duties as directed. Work is performed under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager. Timeliness and attendance are essential functions of the job. Education and Training Guidelines Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and two years personnel related experience. County or State human resources experience highly preferred. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of/or ability to learn Human Resources data base systems; ability to become

NCIC/FCIC

certified; knowledge of federal laws affecting personnel policy, rules, and regulations; knowledge of the Personnel Regulations for State and County funded court employees; knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer, word processing applications, and spreadsheets; ability to organize work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines; ability to communicate effectively; ability to deal tactfully and patiently with employees and the general public; ability to use independent judgment and discretion concerning confidential information; and ability to plan, organize and complete special assignments with minimal supervision.
