JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a highly responsible secretarial, clerical, and support position. An employee in this class performs a variety of office support functions and computer functions for the Human Resources Department. Functions are generally diversified and require judgments to apply broader aspects of established practices and procedures. Functions may include assisting in the administration of various components of the County personnel system including job analysis, compensation analysis, applicant screening, examinations, orientations, surveys, and training.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSES
Possession of a valid Florida License is required. •This job requires a valid drivers license for the employee to drive their personal vehicle or a company vehicle for work-related duties as required by the employer to include various worksite locations.
Must become a Notary Public within the first three months of employment.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of Human Resources experience, and three (3) years of clerical/office work and customer service experience required; or any equivalent combination of related training, education, or experience.
Prefer an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree with an emphasis on human resources, secretarial, business, or computer courses.
Strong computer skills required with emphasis on database management, and document management capabilities, specifically spreadsheet, PowerPoint, internet web-based programs, word processing, and excel programs.
JOB SKILLS
Knowledge of general office procedures and practices including standard office equipment and basic filing practices. Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
Knowledge of different methods of data collection.
Knowledge of administrative principles and practices.
Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to departmental functions such as accounting, personnel, and report writing.
Ability to use data in report writing.
Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Skill in dealing with employees and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to use a variety of computers, printers, and software programs as well as other office equipment.
Ability to type 50 cwpm and word processing.
Skill in updating job descriptions and preparing job announcements and advertisements.
Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion.
Skill in operating the following standard office equipment; personal computer including word processing, database and spreadsheet programs, calculator, multi-line telephone, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
Some knowledge of modern policies and practices of human resource administration including a basic understanding of employee classification, compensation and benefits, recruitment, selection, training, and orientation.
