THE JOB:

The Staffing Coordinator plays a key role in hiring and supporting the staffing needs of a dynamic trucking and road construction company. This individual is responsible for building teams within the Operations Department through strategic hiring, new hire and subcontractor onboarding, and orientation programs. This position will impact the team by conducting ongoing classroom-style trainings for employees and subcontractors while also supporting in administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish and possesses industry knowledge in dump truck operations and asphalt road construction. Must have a strong knowledge or be willing to learn matters related to DOT, DOL, OSHA, and FMCSA laws and regulations.

JOB DUTIES

Conduct interviews and hire qualified team members and subcontractors Follow onboarding processes, including HR compliance, new hire documentation, orientation, and field training coordination Work closely with the Human Resources Department to maintain organized and up-to-date training records and certifications for team members and subcontractors Coordinate with Human Resources and Operations Departments for ongoing improvements in workflow, hiring metrics, and ideal candidate expectations Serve as a point of contact for new team members to ensure their success Collaborate with the Human Resources Department in recruitment and retention initiatives Collaborate with the Safety & Health Manager and facilitate safety coaching and training Conduct industry-specific training sessions such as accident prevention and health and safety best practices (e.g., flagger certification, DOT compliance, OSHA) Maintain accurate records and prepare reports related to hiring, safety training, and subcontractors Identify potential morale issues and communicate them to leadership early Serve as a liaison between operations team members and leadership Attend career fairs and hiring events Assist with administrative tasks for the mechanic shop Complete other assigned duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and/or relative work experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Experience is construction HR and/or safety roles is desired. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Training and coaching skills are required.

Bilingual:

fluent in English and Spanish.

Proficient in:

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Excellent communication and people skills. OSHA-30 certified or willingness to become certified. Knowledge of trucking industry and asphalt road construction operations. Be willing to maintain a flexible schedule. Must have a valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position takes place in an office setting; however, we are a road construction company so you must have an elevated level of awareness to surroundings during site visits and while inside the mechanic shop. Environmental elements may be present such as dust, uneven terrain, oil, grease, heavy equipment, diesel fuel, and hot temperatures. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, reaching, seating, and standing. Good hearing and verbal skills. May require sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
