Straz Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team. This position will proactively support the organization’s HR function by serving as a dedicated point of contact for assigned departments. This dynamic role involves actively managing talent acquisition and staffing needs, fostering positive employee relations, providing comprehensive benefits and payroll support, ensuring adherence to all relevant compliance standards, and contributing to the growth and development of our employees through targeted training initiatives. This role will also contribute to a diverse range of other HR projects and tasks that are critical to the smooth operation of the HR function. Located in downtown Tampa, the 335,000 square-foot Straz Center, one of the largest performing arts complexes in the country, offers a team-based work environment that shows our dedication to the community every day. Essential Functions:

Oversee the tracking, documentation, and compliance of all training programs, certifications, professional education, and work-related assessments to ensure a skilled and compliant workforce. Lead the full-cycle recruitment process, collaborate with managers to understand role needs, and attract top talent through strategic sourcing and effective hiring practices. Develop and implement comprehensive new hire orientations and employee recognition programs that promote smooth integration, morale, and performance. Administer key HR programs including payroll, benefits, leave management, performance reviews, and employee development, while supporting a positive and productive workplace culture. Manage disciplinary actions, terminations, and workplace investigations, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance with company policies and employment laws. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws; regularly review HR policies; and implement best practices to reduce legal and organizational risk. Serve as a central resource for employee and supervisor inquiries, stay informed on HR trends and regulations, and perform additional duties to support HR effectiveness and organizational success.

Minimum Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience. Certifications /

Licenses:

HR certification preferred.
