July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 (start date flexible) Beyond the Bars is hiring a part-time Labor Pool Outreach Specialist to support our efforts to identify labor violations experienced by labor pool workers with records in South Florida. This position will focus on documenting worker experiences, identifying patterns of abuse, and building relationships with workers excluded from traditional labor protections. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct in-person outreach at labor halls Engage workers in brief structured conversations to understand workplace conditions, including pay, hours, safety, and job site experiences Document worker accounts and help identify trends and patterns related to wage theft, unsafe working conditions, discrimination, and other labor issues Support organizing staff in building and updating contact lists of labor pool workers Offer know-your-rights materials and explain how workers can access support or explore their options With the worker’s informed and voluntary consent, assist in connecting them to appropriate resources Maintain accurate records of outreach conversations, referrals, and follow-ups As needed, participate in organizing team meetings and contribute to strategy discussions around labor pool advocacy
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Willing to work non-traditional hours, including very early mornings when day laborers are lining up at labor halls for work Spanish fluency required Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build rapport quickly with low-wage workers from diverse backgrounds Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Ability to work independently in the field and document findings clearly Prior experience as paralegal, investigator, or service provider preferred Lived experience with the criminal legal system or temporary work is valued For this position, Spanish fluency is required, along with access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license are non-negotiable for this position.
COMPENSATION
$25/hour, part-time (20 hours/week) This is a non-exempt, hourly position
