Starting Salary Range:
$60,000-$75,000 The HR Specialist, in conjunction with the executive committee, will handle all HR functions within the firm including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
General management includes the following responsibilities: Manage the day-to-day operations, set priorities, coordinate work schedules, and utilize staff to maximize efficient performance, and oversee/supervise the facilities of the firm. Develop and administer operational/procedural policies and practices to ensure standardization of work processes throughout the firm. Develop a positive work environment through effective communication of information between attorneys and support staff. Coordinate committee meetings to identify and accomplish short- and long-term issues/goals.
Provide supportive human resources management:
Supervise all non-attorney personnel and promote morale among support staff. Maintain personnel records, counsel individuals, handle terminations and unemployment compensation matters. Determine necessary staffing levels; recruit exempt & non-exempt personnel, conduct new employee orientations, exit interviews, coordinate appropriate recruitment ads, interview & scheduled follow-up interviews with attorneys. Coordinate secretary/attorney workloads as needed. Conduct support staff meetings and attend other firm related meetings. Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies/procedures; ensure firm handbook is in compliance, handle disciplinary actions and terminations. Maintain appropriate personnel & benefit files to ensure regulatory compliance. Oversee the library, including all reference materials/subscriptions. Coordinate necessary maintenance issues with building management. Oversee runner staff to ensure existing facilities, equipment and general office services are maintained efficiently and cost effectively. Conduct orientation for all new hires, bi-weekly payroll, and compensation adjustments.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise runner staff, receptionists, administrative assistant, and IT Administrator Oversee management of firm’s website Assist with Marketing activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or certification (PHR, SPHR) in Human Resources Management required or equivalent experience. Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in senior management position, human resources field or benefits administration. Excellent interpersonal-leadership skills.
