JOB SUMMARY

Administers employee benefits and salaries, personnel policies, workers’ compensation, new employee recruitment, onboarding, retention, and governmental reporting and compliance with counsel of Human Resources Director

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administers employee benefits, including annual open enrollment process. Facilities recruitment and onboarding process. Reports and tracks workers’ compensation claims. Reconciles and processes monthly benefit invoices, including tracking and resolving outstanding issues with broker and/or carrier. Administers exit interview process. Administers employee recognition program. Assists in identifying new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the human resources department and the organization. Remains knowledgeable of HR compliance and legal updates related to HR law and employment practices. Ensures policies, processes, and work performed is legally compliant with state, federal, and local regulations and applicable employment laws. Notifies HR Director when policy, process, or work being performed is out of compliance and recommends solutions. Generates required monthly reports and additional reports as requested by program or administrative staff. Ensures electronic and/or physical employee files are kept current. Completes employment verifications of current and former employees. Provides back-up support to main office Administrative Assistant. Work on special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred. Three to five years of experience working in Human Resources.

HRIS/HCM

systems. Current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Automobile liability insurance that meets minimum requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with people of all levels and backgrounds. Meticulous organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive situations. Ability to travel to local VOA offices as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to use a computer as required. Must be able to communicate with others in an understandable manner. Must be able to operate standard office equipment. Work is primarily sedentary but must be able to move throughout the building to access office equipment. May need to occasionally move light equipment. Regular attendance at work is a requirement of this position. Able to travel among Volunteer of America locations within North Louisiana as required.
