Human Resources Community Servings’ mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices. We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the “Food is Medicine” field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 33 years, the agency has provided 11M+ free, scratch-made meals.

Summary :

The HR Generalist (HRG) is a strong team player and collaborator. The HRG will conduct employee relations activities and efforts, support managers with performance management, and work closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer on critical disciplinary actions and investigations in a union environment. The HR Generalist will provide strong support to the HR team, Payroll, and managers to implement effective talent acquisition, development and retention.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Relations, HR Compliance and Risk Management –

Employment Law:

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies. Maintain employee records and HRIS data with high standards of confidentiality and accuracy. Assist in audits, EEO reporting and other regulatory filings. Serve as a key point of contact for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.

Benefits:

Administers benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, FSA, COBRA, Worker’s Compensation, and leave administration. Support benefits administration including enrollment, changes, and provide or source employee education. Provide guidance on accommodations and return-to-work processes.

Learning and Development:

Strong platform and communication skills. Able to design, improve and/or deliver workshops and training modules. Staffing Develops, facilitates, and implement recruitment process. Including maintaining accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria in compliance with employment laws. Ability to work collaboratively with hiring managers to draft to update job descriptions, post positions, screen candidates, and manage the interview process. Technology/Information Systems Experience in using an applicant tracking system, social media, and other tools to assists with job posting and advertisement processes. Acquisition and onboarding – ability to screen applications and selects qualified candidates in partnership with hiring managers. Assist with schedule interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials. Employee Onboarding and Integration Ability and experience with an HRIS system. Preparing and maintaining various human resources records, including employee files, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality of information (i.e., new hire paperwork, I-9s, tax forms). Tracking and maintaining HR inventory (i.e., employee forms, orientation & materials) Ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new hires, including orientation and compliance documents. Collaboration and Teaming Work well and communicate effectively with a small HR team. Ability to work closely with payroll to ensure accuracy of employee status changes and administration of key HR functions. Performance Management Lead or support the performance review process, guiding managers on feedback delivery and goal setting. Assist in identifying training and development needs and facilitating or sourcing appropriate solutions. Support organizational development initiatives. HR Projects and Continuous Improvement Lead or support HR projects and initiatives such as workforce development, Equity Audits, employee engagement, and organizational capability and innovation programs. Analyze HR metrics and trends to recommend actional improvements.

Business Partner Experience:

Provides performance management, giving and receiving feedback, learning and development and employee engagement support to line managers. Collaborates with department managers to identify and acquire the right talent for the right position. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Excellent understanding of employment law, labor relations, and employee relations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics. Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies. Proficient at applicant-tracking systems or other recruitment systems (ADP preferred). Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Bilingual capabilities (Spanish speaking workforce)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required. At least five years of employee relations experience. Managing all phases of the talent management process is highly required. At least 2 years of benefits administration experience. Collaborating with providers and managing open enrollment and all faces of on and offboarding employees a plus. SHRM-CP or

SHRM-SCP

preferred. Experience in a unionized environment or nonprofit sector.
