Washington, NC Job Description Position Purpose:
The Onboarding Specialist plays a vital role in creating a positive and seamless onboarding experience for all new hires at River City Construction. This position is responsible for coordinating and executing the pre-employment and orientation process, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about creating a welcoming and efficient start for new employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Employment Coordination:
Manage the pre-hire process including, offer letters, background screenings, reference verifications, and E-Verify compliance. Collect, track, and file all required new hire documentation ensuring completion and accuracy prior to start date. Collaborate with the recruiting team and hiring managers to ensure timely and smooth transitions from offer acceptance to day one.
New Hire Orientation:
Coordinate new hire orientation sessions, providing information about company history, culture, policies, benefits, and safety protocols.
Onboarding Program Management:
Maintain and continuously improve onboarding checklists, processes, and documentation to enhance the new hire experience.
Employee File & Data Management:
Accurately maintain digital and physical personnel records in accordance with company policy and legal requirements. Ensure all onboarding documentation is uploaded into the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and/or employee management systems.
Process Compliance:
Ensure onboarding processes are compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies. Participate in audits and internal reviews related to onboarding and employment eligibility.
Continuous Improvement:
Gather feedback from new hires and stakeholders to improve onboarding practices and enhance the employee experience. Stay informed about best practices and trends in onboarding and employee engagement.
Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information with discretion. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple onboarding processes simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time management skills.
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or closely related field. Minimum of 2 years experience in onboarding or HR administration. Familiarity with ATS systems and HRIS platforms. Proven experience in HR support, onboarding, or a similar administrative role. Working knowledge of employment law and I-9 compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the construction, skilled trades, or field-based workforce industries is a plus.
Work Schedule:
12pm – 9pm,
Thursday-Monday Special Position Requirements:
This position requires adherence to all company policies, including drug screening and background checks. Must be able to work full-time on-site.
