Description of Work Salary Grade:

 NC07 The Department of Revenue (DOR) Human Resources Division is seeking a career-minded human resources professional to join our team as an HR Specialist (HR Technician II). This position has been established as full-time teleworking. The HR Specialist is responsible for employee and position maintenance in the North Carolina Integrated HR/Payroll System (FIORI) and ensuring actions adhere to established DOR and Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) policies and procedures. Primary responsibilities in this position include but are not limited to: Processing employee (PA) and position (OM) actions in the North Carolina Integrated HR/Payroll System (FIORI).
Designing, running, formatting, and analyzing reports in the North Carolina Integrated HR/Payroll System (FIORI).
Completing and monitoring HR Tasks in ServiceNow (Case Management Systems)
Working independently and with Best Shared Services and other resources to complete complex action processing
Identifying, researching, and correcting a variety of payroll actions, such as overpayments, bonus recoupments, temporary salary adjustments, FLSA errors, etc.
Meeting payroll and project deadlines
Updating job descriptions and employee records in various HR Systems
Completing salary analyses for temporary staff
Maintaining confidentiality Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Demonstrated working knowledge of State HRIS systems, processes, and reporting tools (or similar systems in other states).
Demonstrated basic knowledge of federal and state laws, and State policies, procedures and practices.
Demonstrated high level of technical skills in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, databases and various software programs.
Demonstrated experience designing, generating, and formatting reports and analyzing data as requested.
Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with others. Ability to conduct confidential HR business matters with tact and discretion, to express ideas clearly and concisely. Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Management Preferences:

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with processing actions in the North Carolina Integrated HR/Payroll System (FIORI).
Experience completing Baseline Salary Worksheets for salary administration
Experience using ServiceNow workflow system. Experience using PeopleAdmin to access and maintain job descriptions Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Associate degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required; or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
