Compensation analysts work with human resource and operationsprofessionals to perform a series of functions that ensure thecompany offers competitive compensation levels to attract andretain talent. At its core, the compensation analyst administersthe company’s business unit-specific variable pay programs. Thework is ongoing, since the compensation analyst is responsible forreviewing and updating existing pay programs and developing new payprograms. In this review process, the compensation analyst observesthe pay process, takes note of any inefficiencies or areas in needof improvement, prepares improvement recommendations along withsupporting evidence. Compensation analysts work closely with humanresource staff to collect job data and consistently manage thejob-leveling process. The compensation analyst also prices jobsusing market data and internal data to ensure consistency in thepay structure across the entire organization. To fulfill theseresponsibilities, compensation analysts often participate in andconduct wage surveys. 3 – 7 years of experience.
