Job Description

Inv Title VI & Title IX-Dpty Title IX Coord. 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 36 Madison Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940 Drew University is seeking a Title VI and Title IX Investigator who will also serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator in the Campus Life & Student Affairs Department. The Investigator for Title IV and Title IX / Deputy Title IX Coordinator is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into complaints of sexual harassment, sexual assault, gender-related violence including stalking and intimate partner violence, and other conduct that may violate Title IX, Title VI or related University policies. This position also supports the Title IX Coordinator in ensuring institutional compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and related federal and state laws.

Key Responsibilities:

Investigate and assist in all aspects of Title VI complaints, often through the Policy on Discrimination and Harassment. Investigate and resolve complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence including stalking and intimate partner violence. Lead intakes and conduct prompt, thorough and impartial investigations of alleged violations and other relevant laws and/or University policies, as needed. Duties will include, but are not limited to, interviewing complainants and respondents; identifying and interviewing witnesses; gathering and assessing information relevant to investigations; and appropriately applying the relevant University policies to individual cases. Create comprehensive, well-documented investigation reports. Assist in ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and University-wide mandates. Monitor and track reports to ensure timely response and processing of all complaints. Comply with annual individual and team training requirements in a timely manner and within 60 days of employment. Participate in policy review and development to enhance the University’s compliance framework. Create and participate in trainings to educate the University community on policy, laws and regulations, and reporting and other obligations. Assist with preparing and conducting relevant programming as needed. Collaboration with University departments, as well as county and state partners and resources, is necessary for this position. Collaborate with the Dean of Students Office regarding student complaints and other issues. Performs duties as assigned Occasional evening/weekend work required. Often at the beginning of semesters and throughout key awareness months.

Essential duties for this position require in-person presence This role reports to the Associate Vice President of Institutional Policy & Compliance, Title IX Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant education and experience in a comparable capacity that will assist in performing the required duties will be considered. Excellent judgment and ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Title VI, Title IX, the Clery Act, VAWA, and FERPA. Excellent critical thinking skills, including the demonstrated ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolutions. Ability to manage multiple cases, tasks and projects simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs. Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress. Ability to individually, and as part of a team, work collaboratively and professionally across multiple constituencies to resolve complaints in a neutral, sensitive manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in higher education administration or applicable field. At least three years of professional experience conducting investigations in a higher education setting, or other related field. Experience in student affairs, including the administration of student judicial matters. How to
