Conduct thorough and unbiased assessments and investigations into complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and protected class discrimination and harassment in accordance with OEO Policies filed by students, employees, faculty, administrators, and third party vendors based on OEO protected characteristics including but not limited to: race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, veteran status, age, marital status, and/or any other characteristics protected under the University OEO Policies. Collaborate and consult with the Office of General Counsel, the Provosts Office, Human Resources, Student Affairs, and other University offices regarding matters related to the Universitys policies to oversee, and when appropriate, implement supportive measures (e.g., no contact directives, academic and housing assistance, etc.); oversee, participate, or direct modification/procedures.

Responsibilities Required Education:

Juris Doctorate (J.D.)

Required Experience:

5+ years of recent and professional experience conducting investigations related to employment-based and/or protected characteristic discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

Preferred Experience:

3+ years demonstrated employment litigation experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough and efficient investigations. Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information. Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem solving, interviewing, and investigation. Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations. Superb written and oral communication skills, including skill in writing concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues. Excellent critical thinking skills, including the demonstrated ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges while maintaining strict confidentiality and sensitivity. Ability to produce high quality work products with attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs. Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress. Ability to work collaboratively and professionally across multiple constituencies to resolve complaints in a neutral, sensitive manner. Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including Title VI, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the ADEA.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Experience working in a unionized environment. Experience working in a higher education environment or with higher education clients. Qualifications In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $150,000.00 to USD $170,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
