JOB TITLE:

Human Resources Generalist

REPORTS TO

Vice President of Human Resources

MAIN FUNCTION

The Human Resources Generalist will work as a support to the HR department and assist with various tasks directed by the VP of HR, the Director of Recruitment & Employee Engagement, and the Payroll Director. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Greet and direct those entering the HR office. Type and design general correspondences, memos, employee letters, event flyers, etc. Open and organize all mail for the HR department. Provide written responses or replies by phone or e-mail when necessary. Respond to regularly occurring requests for information such as employment and wage verifications, unemployment verifications. Answer phones, take messages or field/answer all routine and non-routine questions. Always provides timely follow up calls/emails as needed to employees and managers. File all applicable paperwork into employee personnel files and maintains files. Oversee the maintenance of employee benefits records. Assist in reviewing, processing and tracking all FMLA, PFL, Short and Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance requests, claims and documentation. Coordinate daily, weekly, monthly and annual benefits processing. Handle enrollment, changes and termination of benefits with all carriers/vendors. Maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes. Plan, organize and direct the activities related to health, life, dental, vision benefits and insurance programs. Act as liaison between Employee Benefits and other departments. Act as a liaison between all health plan representatives and employee benefits. Prepare and develop communication and educational materials regarding the benefits package for all the insured employees. Oversee the reconciliation of all benefit plans’ monthly eligibility reports. Ensure that all eligible employees are enrolled in the correct benefit plans in the payroll system. Assist in talent acquisition, onboarding and employee retention as assigned by the Director of Recruitment & Employee Engagement. Reviews incident reports and files Worker’s Compensation claims as appropriate Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace. Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form. Assist with general clerical duties related to payroll processing. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years HR experience required. Payroll and Benefits Experience, preferred. Attention to detail, excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people. Ability to maintain effective working relationships. Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite products; specifically Word and Excel. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates. Effective written and verbal communication skills necessary. History of maintaining confidential records and information. Ability to work independently or in a team. Passion, a strong work ethic, and proven track record of accountability and ownership when completing tasks. Ability to utilize critical thinking and judgment to resolve problems and issues independently. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Must have excellent customer service skills, be upbeat and friendly. Be flexible and able to adapt to an ever changing work environment.
