Beaufort County, SC Job Responsibilities Job Purpose:

Under the limited supervision of the Director of Talent Search, the Educational Specialist will provide career, educational, and financial aid advising/activities to low-income and/or first-generation students at assigned target schools. The Educational Specialist is also responsible for coordinating various school activities/trips for assigned schools. Job Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.Assist the director with the planning, coordination, and implementation of all service-related activities in the assigned schools, providing grade-appropriate career, educational, and financial aid activities for each grade level. 2.Assess participant’s ‘ability to benefit’, educational and career interests and goals through interviews, analyzing transcripts, and conducting exploration activities in both group and individual advising sessions. 3.Coordinate and conduct educational exploration activities to include reviewing participants’ academic records, encouraging college preparation courses, assisting with college selection/application process, completion of ACT/SAT registrations, and acquiring college information materials as needed. 4.Coordinate and conduct career exploration activities to include administering career interest inventories. 5.Coordinate and conduct financial aid exploration activities/workshops to include providing updated information, guiding and assisting participants with financial scholarship applications, skills tutoring, and enrichment. 6.Plan, coordinate, and implement college visitation/cultural activity, and/or business visitations for the assigned target schools. 7.Provide accurate recordkeeping and reporting information to include documentation of all interventions noting the date and type of each service rendered. Utilize the reporting systems established by the director, collect, update, compile, and submit routine reports as requested, and develop an activity schedule/calendar for each assigned school. 8.Coordinate outreach and recruitment activities with assigned schools, serve as a liaison between the TS director, the schools, and the community; initiate contact with responsible parties; and provide program orientation and disseminate TS program information. Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the TS program objectives as assigned by the project director. Minimum and Additional Requirements Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred:
