We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resources Specialist to join our team. This role will primarily focus on enhancing and executing a smooth onboarding experience for new internal employees while ensuring compliance with employment laws, including FMLA, workers’ compensation, and insurance regulations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about employee experience, knowledgeable about employment law, and driven to develop and streamline HR procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Onboarding o Coordinate and facilitate onboarding for new internal employees, ensuring all documentation is completed. o Act as the first point of contact for new hires, providing guidance and support through the onboarding process. o Develop onboarding materials and continually improve onboarding workflows to ensure consistency and efficiency. Policy & Compliance Management o Stay current on federal, state, and local labor laws including FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and health insurance regulations. o Advise leadership on changes in employment law and assist in updating policies accordingly. o Maintain and monitor employee records in accordance with compliance requirements and internal policies. Process Improvement o Analyze existing onboarding processes and develop strategies to improve the experience for both employees and managers. o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices in employee integration and retention. Benefits & Leave Administration o Support the administration of employee benefits programs including insurance enrollment, changes, and education. o Manage and track employee leaves (FMLA, short-term disability, etc.) and communicate status updates with relevant parties. o Liaise with insurance and workers’ compensation providers as needed to ensure timely processing and resolution. Documentation & Reporting o Maintain accurate employee files and HR records. o Generate reports related to onboarding, turnover, leave tracking, and compliance audits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 3+ years of HR experience Working knowledge of HR-related laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus. Prior experience in process improvement or project management within HR. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Semi-monthly pay cycle
