POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Human Resources Generalist reports to the General Manager with additional oversight from the Director of Human Resources at Hotel Bennett. This position is responsible for coordinating HR policies and programs, with a focus on benefits administration, recruitment, compensation, and employee retention, while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. As an essential member of the Leadership Team, the Human Resources Generalist serves as a strategic partner, managing all HR functions across the property (The Inn at Middleton Place and Food & Beverage). This position is based in Charleston, SC

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Tasks/Responsibilities:

Responsible for the productivity and effectiveness of the Human Resources Department on a daily basis. Collaborates with fellow leaders to ensure Human Resources strategies align with operational goals. Monitors industry Human Resources trends to identify challenges and opportunities. Maintains the Human Resources budget. Provides functional expertise and counsel on Human Resources related matters. Coaches, counsels, mentors, and develops leaders. Participate in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations challenges, anticipate problems, develop, recommend and initiate appropriate steps of action. Manages recruiting for all positions. Ensures open positions are kept to a minimum and retention is maximized. Maintains Indeed and LinkedIn accounts and updates. Manages competitive wage rates, comparisons data for all positions. Assists executive management in the review, preparation and administration of property’s wage and salary program. Oversees property Orientation. Supports Salamander University goals and staff completion of on-line sessions. Manages workers compensation claims. Maintains unemployment claims. Maintains annual review compliancy with Managers and their Service Professionals, including 30 and 90 day performance reviews. Develop, prepare, generate, and analyze ongoing special reports through the

systems pertaining to employee personnel information and data, including but not limited to issues such as benefits costs, staffing levels, turnover, recruitment and compensation. Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resources management. Supports Recognition Programs, including responsibility for the Manager of the Quarter program and Service Professional Core Value winners. Annually reviews and makes recommendations to Executive Management for improvement of company policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters. Communicates changes in policies and procedures and ensures compliance is followed. Coordinates and/or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation when appropriate. Attends all appropriate meetings. Adheres to Salamander Collection Procedures, including commitment to Learning and Development initiatives. Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements:

Minimum (3) years’ experience in a HR leadership role preferably at a comparable hotel, resort, inn or club. Working knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures. Strong technical expertise in employment law, compliance, and benefits. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a related field required. HRCI certification preferred, diversity oriented and bi-lingual a plus. Human Resources experience should demonstrate progressive responsibility and growth. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to mediate conflict and exercise good judgment. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality. Must have the ability to courteously and clearly present information in one-on-one and group situations. Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
