Job Description
Do you have experience helping justice-involved individuals and empowering them with the knowledge and skills they need to find work?
Our Second Chance Workforce Consultant serves within the Employment Services (ES) division. ES programs improve the functioning of the labor market by bringing together individuals who are seeking employment and employers who are seeking workers. The SC Works system provides jobseekers with career guidance, job referrals, assessments, and résumé assistance. Free tools to assist employers include posting job openings, recruiting and screening candidates, and reviewing job market trends. South Carolina’s 12 local workforce development boards administer the SC Works Centers throughout the state.
The Second Chance Workforce Consultant plays a crucial role in the agency’s reentry programs, focusing on justice-involved individuals. This role serves as the main point of contact for these programs, coordinating trainings, services, and recruitment events for justice-involved individuals. The role also manages key partnerships like the SC Department of Corrections and partners with Workforce Development for grant opportunities, the Workforce Opportunity Tax Credit, and Federal Bonding.
Key Responsibilities
Supports the SC Works management structure by actively participating in local meetings or authorized employment events.
Provides employment service coaching to individuals needing referrals to SC Works partners for specialized training and/or education.
Prepares and maintains accurate, clear, concise, and comprehensive records, both electronic and hard copy versions.
Assists in planning, managing, and coordinating SCDC program activities, including virtual and in-person services.
Liaison for the DEW Second Chance program in the community, attending collaborative meetings, and participating in committees.
Reports performance of the Second Chance program to the Second Chance Programs Manager and Employment Solutions Manager, and communicates process improvements, goal changes, and new implementations.
Assists with ad hoc projects, special projects, and programs.
Performs case management and client services to Justice Involved Job Seekers within a Correctional Facility.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Education and Experience
A high school diploma with a minimum of four years of experience providing client centered case management, counseling, or a related field.
Additional Requirements
Travel required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of experience providing client centered case management, counseling, or a related field.
