Position Description The Payroll Specialist provides a wide variety of payroll-related activities. This position requires working knowledge of payroll processing, including state and local taxes. The individual filling this position must have excellent attention to detail, solid communication, customer service, and organizational skills. The applicant must have the proven ability to always deal with confidential information with the highest level of integrity. This position is located at our Sumter, SC office. Job Responsibilities Processes payroll for 2000+ multi-state employees in the organization on a weekly basis Processes payroll change forms, separations, bonus payments, and manual checks approved by management Ensures that vacation and seniority dates are managed weekly for all employees Completes regular audits to ensure the accuracy of payroll records Government wage reporting (Davis Bacon, BLS MWS, and OES) Runs reports for site admins and management Administration of garnishments, levies, and child support Provides organizational support and expertise on all payroll-related questions or concerns Processes yearly W-2s Files and ensures the accuracy of I-9 forms Ensures accuracy and completeness of all HR Payroll documentation Good understanding of HR Payroll related issues including an understanding of various HR Payroll policies, procedures, and regulations (local, state, and federal) Effective use of time to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks Other duties as assigned Job Qualifications A minimum of 2 years of payroll experience preferred SAGE Timberline software experience a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong customer service skills Ability to manage competing demands and priorities is a critical component of the position, along with the ability to work independently and function effectively as part of a dynamic collaborative team Ability to handle confidential information in strict confidence and with great sensitivity Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Enjoys a challenge and is committed to be a team member in a high-performance organization Candidate required to pass a drug test and criminal background Benefits We strive to provide a competitive compensation and benefits package.
