Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior leadership, this role ensures organizational compliance with employment laws, supports a culture of respect and equity, and helps foster a productive, mission-aligned workforce. The HR Director oversees staffing, performance management, compliance, policy development, employee relations, training, and benefit administration, while supervising the Payroll Specialist. This role is expected to model the organization’s core values and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, including supervisory responsibilities and employee relations. In-depth knowledge of current federal and Florida state employment laws and HR best practices. Experience with payroll processing and compensation compliance strongly preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar) is a plus. SHRM or HRCI certification preferred. Notary Public designation preferred or willingness to obtain. Language Requirements Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. Ability to interpret and compose professional documents, correspondence, and HR-related policies. Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) a plus but not required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide full-cycle HR support, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training, and offboarding. Serve as a trusted resource to leadership, managers, and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Develop, implement, and maintain legally compliant HR policies, employee handbooks, and internal procedures. Oversee and support recruitment and hiring processes, including job postings, interviews, background screenings, references, and onboarding. Facilitate and maintain a positive employee culture, including training initiatives, staff development, recognition programs, and team-building activities. Conduct and document exit interviews; support management in handling voluntary and involuntary terminations with professionalism and legal compliance. Provide coaching to managers and supervisors regarding performance, conflict resolution, and employee conduct issues. Supervise Payroll Specialist; oversee bi-weekly payroll processing in coordination with the CFO to ensure accuracy and compliance with wage and hour laws. Maintain accurate employee records, including certifications, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and benefit elections. Track and update wage comparability study annually to ensure equity and competitiveness in compensation practices. Organize and facilitate training on HR-related topics such as harassment prevention, diversity and inclusion, confidentiality, and safety. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and licensing requirements, including EEO, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and DCF guidelines. Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to organizational strategy, planning, and culture initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. Physical Requirements Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Frequent use of computer and standard office equipment.
