POSITION SUMMARY
Plans and manages all aspects of the District employee certification process and employee work experience verification process to ensure accurate administration of statutory regulations and local guidelines. Supervises the certification and data reporting unit. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the certification and data reporting unit. Evaluates personnel transcripts to identify certification areas and submits documentation to the Professional Standards Commission (PSC) to ensure all educators are in compliance with state law mandates. Develops and manages processes for monitoring and ensuring Professionally Qualified status, including development, distribution, and monitoring certification development plans for applicable employees are met and maintained.
Reviews and processes certification/license application packages for all veteran and newly employed educators, including initial certificates, upgrades to certificates, and additions, including, but not limited to, additional fields, upgrades to certificate levels, endorsements, etc. Ensures CPI/Data Reporting is completed and accurate.
Collaborates with other District departments in an effort to monitor work processes related to certifications.
Communicates and responds to school personnel and administrators regarding certification status, required examinations, qualifications, renewal procedures, upgrading levels, adding field endorsements, etc. Makes recommendations regarding employees failing to maintain or qualify for certification.
Conducts training for teachers, paraprofessionals, principals, and other employees to disseminate policy and clarify existing policies regarding certification.
Provides support for division-wide initiatives, including but not limited to hiring events, as well as all other duties as assigned, to ensure the effective execution of the responsibilities described herein.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Education, or a related field required. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience (e.g., project management, team lead, etc.) in a K-12 school setting or organization required. PHR/SPHR or
SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
preferred, or must be pursued by incumbent if not possessed at time of application.
Prior experience coordinating within organizational departments; makes decisions and recommendations that often affect the activities of others.
Moderate level of judgment required: supervisor is available on a limited-time basis; individual required to establish and evaluate departmental objectives.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; requires continuing contact with officials at higher levels. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with inter-organizational teams.

NOTE:
This is a grade 27, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.
