HUMAN RESOURCES SUPERVISOR 3.6 3.6
out of 5 stars Lake Charles, LA 70601 JOB This is the third of four levels in the Human Resources series. Incumbents interpret, communicate, and apply human resource policies and procedures, maintain human resource records, and complete a variety of projects. Responsibilities may include recruiting qualified applicants; creating, updating and maintaining job descriptions, forms, and brochures; reviewing, maintaining and approving employee documentation and attendance tracking logs; compiling data and preparing a variety of reports; and providing human resource guidance to employees and supervisors. Incumbents may supervise lower-level human resources and/or administrative support staff.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Other duties may be assigned.)Identifies, attracts, interviews, and qualifies applicants for all open positions including networking, utilizing online recruiting resources (NEOGov, CPPJ internal and external websites, social networks, professional organizations, trade groups) and coordinating job fairs. Partners with Directors / Department Heads to develop, implement, and determine effective recruiting strategies and hiring decisions.
Oversees hiring processes and procedures. Assists Human Resources Manager in audits and reviews for compliance, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Maintains multiple departmental websites and initiatives including job postings, employee benefits, employee highlight videos, CPPJ branding videos.
Updates a variety of human resources reports and employee documents including job descriptions, employment contracts, disciplinary documentation, and employee status reports.
Participates in segregation of duties regarding payroll.
Organizes and directs time sensitive routine assignments including random drug screens and EEO reporting.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Remains abreast of current laws, standards, and governmental regulations to ensure compliance.
Tracks human resources records including employee tracking logs and/or related records.
Provides interpretation and analysis of human resource policies, procedures and practices for employees, supervisors, and applicants.
Performs research related to confidential human resources issues; compiles and evaluates data; prepares related reports.
Participates in the departmental budget process.
Prepares and presents related reports to Human Resources Director and / or Senior Management.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has supervisory responsibilities over other non-exempt HR, clerical/secretarial, and temporary staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Parish’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, disciplining employees, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; recommending and advising staff on effective strategies to meet staffing and organizational goals; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Light Work:

If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work. Incumbents may be subjected to travel.
