Overview
Bath Iron Works (BIW) is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support our Engineering, Programs, Planning Yard, and IT divisions.
This critical role aligns HR practices and systems with overall Business Operating System (BOS) goals. Provides guidance to business leaders on organizational people performance, talent management, employee development and succession planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Talent Partnering
Advise technical division leadership on succession planning and workforce strategy.
Partner with Talent Acquisition on recruiting strategies for technical roles.
Collaborate with Organizational Development on career frameworks.
Employee Relations and Performance Management
Manage employee relations issues and conduct internal investigations.
Coach managers on performance concerns and improvement plans.
Serves as an advisor during union contract negotiations.
Support disciplinary actions and provide policy guidance.
Ensure fair application of HR practices across technical divisions.
Talent Development
Implement career growth frameworks for technical professionals.
Facilitate leadership workshops and coaching for technical leaders.
Drive performance management, talent assessment, and succession planning.
Identify high-potential talent and create development plans.
Compensation
Support job offer development for technical roles.
Guide progression and promotion decisions.
Facilitate annual merit review process.
Ensure alignment between performance and compensation.
Change Management and Analytics
Implement change management strategies for organizational transformation.
Leverage workforce analytics to inform talent strategies.
Monitor key metrics including retention and employee satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Organizational Development, or a related field is required.
Qualifications
10+ years HR experience in talent management, organizational development, or consulting required.
Experience supporting technical functions in manufacturing or heavy industry required.
Knowledge of employee relations, investigations, and performance management required.
Experience with job architecture, progression planning, and compensation required.
Strong understanding of labor relations in unionized environments required.
Excellent communication skills, organizational awareness and demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders.
Proficiency in HR data analytics tools required.
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies required.
