Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of Human Resources, Graduate School & International Education is responsible for implementation of HR strategy and operations for department. This position requires extensive knowledge of university, state and federal HR processes, regulations and standards. Provides a wide range of HR services, including centralization of recruitment processes, orientation and training, onboarding and offboarding, compensation, performance management, employee relations, retention and career development, job analysis and documentation, and organizational development. Partners proactively with deans, directors, and managers to address a variety of workplace issues. Responsible for processing of all personnel and payroll transactions in Workday. Assists with oversight and management of the graduate assistant process for the campus. Represents the unit at various meetings and serves as liaison on all unit personnel matters with external constituents, HR, OEOC and Provost Office. Assist in the preparation of routine and special request reports for the unit and central HR. Reports to the assistant dean for finance and administration.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Management, Human Resources or related field
At least two years’ experience in an HR role within a public, higher education environment
At least three years progressively responsible HR experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Greater than 5 years progressively responsible HR experience
Greater than 5 years’ experience working in HR in a public, higher education environment
University of Arkansas HR experience
Experience with Human Capital Management Systems such as Workday
SHRM, HRCI, or other HR certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources
Knowledge of state and federal personnel laws, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of organizational management, payroll, benefits, and budget processes
Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and documents
Ability to interpret and state and agency/institution policies and procedures governing personnel
Ability to research and analyze data
Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written)
