Role:

The NextGen Workforce Development Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the long-term success of youth served under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) . This position supports out-of-school youth (OSY) in their transition to employment, postsecondary education, or training programs after they exit the program. Additionally, the Manager leads business engagement efforts focused on expanding work-based learning (WBL) opportunities—such as internships and job shadowing—for in-school youth (ISY). This is a high-impact, community-facing role for someone who is mission-driven, organized, and confident working with both youth and employers.

Key Responsibilities:

Youth Talent Development & Follow-Up Manage a caseload of out-of-school youth during the 12-month follow-up period after program exit. Provide individualized support to help youth remain on track toward employment, education, or training goals. Collaborate with schools, nonprofits, and training providers to enhance support services and career exploration. Business Engagement & Strategic Partnerships Partner with the Director of Business Engagement to identify employer needs and co-develop youth hiring strategies. Grow and maintain a network of businesses offering internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing opportunities. Facilitate feedback loops with hiring managers to improve alignment between employer expectations and youth programming. Track and report on outcomes related to employer participation and youth engagement. Public Engagement & Messaging Represent Charlotte Works at community events, forums, and employer roundtables to promote youth programs. Support development of outreach materials and presentations for youth, parents, employers, and community stakeholders. Help position Charlotte Works as a leader in employer-informed, youth-focused workforce development.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, education, human services, business, or related field (Master’s preferred). 3+ years of experience in youth programs, workforce development, or employer engagement. Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills. Familiarity with WIOA and labor market data preferred. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. $55,000.00 – $61,800.00 per year
