The Director of Human Resources is required to lead by example, be visible and available to associates representing the ownership’s core values that if you take of your associates, they will take care of your customers. As an integral member of the property Leadership Team, the Director of Human Resources will report directly to the Managing Director. This person is responsible for ensuring high levels of associates satisfaction and retention through: Establishing effective talent acquisition, selection and retention programs. Ensuring compensation and benefits are competitive and motivating. Comprehensive labor modeling, succession and workforce planning. Implementing consistent quality management development processes. Instilling associate pride through rewards and recognition processes. In addition, the Director of Human Resources will partner with the Leadership teams at Prestonwood Country Club, SAS Conference Center, and SAS Institute to define shared resources and provide career progression for associates.
Job Requirements:
Ensure job descriptions are in place for all positions Talent acquisition, selection and retention programs Create sourcing process to identify candidates for open positions Prospect external talent by building relationships in the community and identifying outside talent in the market Ensure selection process is well defined and understood by the Human Resources staff and hiring managers Champion the on-boarding, orientation and certification process for newly hired associates Understand and track key drivers and retention and ensure programs are put in place Compensation and benefits processes Create and implement total compensation packages/offers, particularly incentive programs directed towards property priorities Champion the proper use of total compensation systems, tools, programs, policies. Conduct internal equity analysis annually In collaboration with Director of Finance, manage the annual merit and bonus process Benchmark competitive set to understand compensation and competitive work environments Ensure integrity of job codes and wages for hourly positions and associates Labor modeling, succession and workforce planning Conduct needs assessment for management and staff vacancies Create ideal state labor model Work with the Managing Director to evaluate the leadership pipeline and establish criteria for promotion Lead succession planning process for both junior and senior leadership positions Performance Management and Development Coordinate the annual Performance Appraisal Process Ensure managers are trained in the process of evaluating hourly staff Provide ongoing coaching and career development Conduct training assessment, identify opportunities and develop and implement training programs Coach/advise and manager high risk, sensitive, escalated associate relations issues Instill Associate Pride through Rewards and Recognition Coordinate Associate Opinion Survey (using 3rd party), share results and work with Executive Team to create plans to address areas of opportunity Engage in proactive planning to ensure positive work environment including Yumstead (associate café), locker room areas, uniforms, associate referral program, Passport program, etc. Monitor overall work environment and continually reinforce positive associate relations concepts Champion ongoing recognition and rewards programs to stimulate associate pride for the Umstead hotel
Responsibilities:
Translate business priorities in Human Resources strategies, plans and actions Accountable for implementing and sustaining Human Resources initiatives Ensure Human Resources staff is properly trained in all associate-related information to appropriately respond to associate questions Set departmental goals and hold Human Resources staff members accountable for high levels of service and responsiveness to all associates Participate in ownership meetings and provide relevant updated on Associate satisfaction and retention turnover statistics, critical open positions, training initiatives, etc.) Monitor compliance to labor relations issues Monitor compliance for legal/regulatory activities (e.g. investigations, unemployment etc.) Monitor all disciplinary situations involving associates and management Ensure the implementation of associate safety programs, and review plans and actions for accident prevention; manage costs and monitor OSHA compliance Leadership Requirements Demonstrates open and honest communication between hotel leadership and associates Drive alignment and pull through of the hotels/owners vision and core values Provide leadership to direct reports Be a visible, proactive, personally involved leader with associates Excellent organizational skills Effective training and facilitator skills; knowledge of various training methodologies Well-developed capability for strategic decision-making Demonstrate a daily passion for excellence and continuous quality improvement Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills Ability to sell concepts and ideas to management, peers and employees Ability to lead by example and use a ‘hands-on’ approach to management Instill a calm, organized approach in all situations Knowledge of labor relations, labor laws and workforce analysis Financial management capability (ability to analyze P&L statements, develop budgets) Basic legal expertise related to hotel issues #
