SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Director of Human Resources and Administrative Services will administer and oversee benefits and leave; staff HRIS self-service instructions; disciplinary matters and disputes; performance and talent management; onboarding and offboarding; and all policy and compliance related to HR. They will partner with the VP of Talent to ensure alignment with Talent Team vision and goals to ensure we are acting as one-Talent Team to provide outstanding customer service to Alco staff. This position involves direct supervision of the Administrative Services Manager, the Human Resources Generalist, and the Talent Acquisition Specialist. The Director of Human Resources reports to the VP of Talent.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resources Operations & Customer Service (40%) Take ownership of all employee questions related to HR – benefits, policy, performance Monitor recuring questions and collaborate with the Generalist to create resources to encourage self-service Create and document internal systems and processes to manage human resources functions to ensure consistency and compliance. Develop and maintain employee resources needed for all external human resources processes, including but not limited to timesheets, payroll calendars, benefits, incident reporting, and HR forms, in a one-stop, self-service like SharePoint, containing relevant instructions and links, focusing on accessibility and customer service. Create a self-service guide for management with links and instructions to all manager functions including performance management, hourly staff management, forms, documents, and resources. Support HR Generalist and Talent Acquisition Specialist in preboarding and onboarding new employees, including managing HRIS set up and use Maintain the processes and template emails that ensure the team can consistently and accurately respond to all first-line staff member questions about HR via the shared inbox. Team Management (15%) Model a positive, professional attitude that welcomes feedback and fosters a culture of learning. Support team members in creating, documenting, and meeting their performance and development SMART goals. Meet and document one-on-one meetings with direct reports monthly to ensure they are on track to meet their SMART goals and course-correct when needed. Policies & Compliance (25%) Implement and ensure adherence to a cadence of the year calendar for all compliance, benefits, and HR operations processes. Assist the Payroll Team through agreed upon procedures for onboarding, leaves, unpaid time, timesheet corrections, and new and exiting staff pay. Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, through recommended best practices and the review and modification of policies and practices to maintain compliance. Create, maintain, improve, and strategize compliance with all policies related to employee operations within company Benefits Administration (20%) Strategize and set up structure for annual open enrollment process. Lead development of open enrollment communications and education. Increase employee engagement with benefits programs through ongoing resourcing and programing Partner with VP of Talent, CEO, and CFO on annual renewal process including preparation of a comprehensive financial analysis, benchmarking for industry standards, and proposing recommendations for plan changes. Supervise benefits awareness campaigns for staff each month with an emphasis on monitoring trends in usage and changing staff needs. Partner with broker and vendors to ensure all documents and staff forms are updated for each plan year and when changes occur. Maintain the systems and integrations for each provider through Paycom.
INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
Internally, the Director of Human Resources will have contact with all positions throughout the company. They will interact with Senior Management, Regional Property Managers, all Central Office Staff, Community Managers, and potentially all employees. Externally the Director of Human Resources will have contact with vendors, state and federal government agencies, benefits representatives, staffing agencies, DFWP administrators, lab technicians, investors, suppliers, visitors, deliverymen, and service technicians.

BACKGROUND, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Education Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field OR equivalent experience and certifications required SHRM-CP or

highly preferred Skills & Experience At least five years of human resource management experience required Minimum of three years of experience administering employee benefit plans in the health and welfare areas Experience administering 401(k) retirement programs Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Power Point Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Superior verbal/written skills and presentation skills Strong interpersonal skills essential Working knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations, plan designs and third-party record keeping/administration required.
