Job:
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides strategic and tactical HR support to Summit facilities. In the absence of facility HR representative, leads and supports key HR functional areas within assigned group or facility to include employee relations, retention, performance management, compliance, compensation analysis, employee development, recruiting, etc. Responsible for assisting in timely and effective resolution to employee issues that come to the corporate office through the compliance line, employee calls and management escalation of an employee issue. Assists in conducting investigations in response to employee complaints and EEOC charges. Frequently travels to existing facilities to support the Human Resources function and to acquisition sites to oversee conversion to Summit Human Resources practices. Participates in HR special projects as assigned.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provides expertise and support in Human Resources Administration including policy and procedure, employer/employee relations, HR strategy, regulatory compliance, and employment law to Summit facilities as assigned. Provides guidance on interpretation of policies and procedures. Develops and maintains tracking system for open positions in the facility assigned. Recruits, screens, onboards, and orients new hires according to facility needs and budget. Enters employee data accurately into the HRIS system. Ensures employee files/records are compliant and maintained according to regulatory standards and company policies. Responds to agency surveys. Develops, and conducts staff development programs including training and education. Ensures license and required certifications are appropriate and current. Designs and implements retention initiatives including rewards and recognition and engagement. Provides coaching and conflict resolution for managers and employees. Conducts investigations of employee complaints or incidents. Administers benefit programs including timely enrollment and assists employees who have a life event. Processes unemployment and worker’s compensation claims and leave benefits. Monitors facility compliance with completion of probationary and annual performance evaluations regarding timeliness and according to established guidelines. Serves as HR contact for De Novo projects within their region. Responsible for hiring, setting up HR department, competencies, policies, etc. of the new facility. Assists with due diligence collection and analysis for acquisitions and works with the Corporate HR on the implementation and conversion to Summit systems and standards. Monitors Joint Commission/CARF standards compliance on an ongoing basis, works with leadership at facilities to support maintaining a constant state of readiness for survey. Reviews and ensures that assigned facility policies and procedures are compliant with all regulatory standards (federal, state, and local). Updates policies and procedures as needed. Communicates changes in employee policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed. Completes or oversees facility payroll as directed. Serves as back up to facilities for payroll purposes. Works either independently or as a member of the team on special projects to represent the Corporate HR function. Works closely with corporate compliance management to resolve and document Human Resources related compliance concerns. Assists in Investigating compliance concerns, EEOC charges, and employee complaint Assists in serving as an escalation point and resources for field Human Resources representatives to advise on administering policy and procedure and resolve employee relations issues 50-75% travel to assigned facilities.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business or related field required OR High School plus related comparable experience. Five or more years of experience in healthcare operations required.
PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
preferred. Three or more years proven supervisory/management experience in HR required, preferably in healthcare. Demonstrable knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, employee relations and negotiation, engagement and retention and human resources information systems required. Experience with regulatory agencies (Joint Commission, CMS, etc.) preferred. Knowledge and application of federal and state employment laws and regulations. Why Summit Healthcare Mgmt?
