ADVERTISING TITLE

Recruitment and Background Specialist This open state advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located in Central Office in the Office of Human Resources.
The mission of the Non-Security Recruitment team at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to attract, hire, and retain qualified and diverse individuals for non-security positions within the department. These positions support the overall operations and functions of FDC. The team focuses on ensuring that the workforce is professional, skilled, and dedicated to the department’s values and goals, while providing essential support services that enhance the safety and security of the correctional environment.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES
Supports Management:

Help executive management with research and preparing information for collective bargaining and budget matters.

Recruitment and Selection:

Handle all tasks related to hiring and recruitment for the Florida Department of Corrections. This includes understanding and using personnel rules and agreements. Research and advertise job openings in the People First System according to department policies.

Guidance and Analysis:

Guide managers and employees on using the Hiring Center in the People First System. Check documents to ensure they follow federal and state hiring guidelines.
Conducts and researches backgrounds: Conduct background investigations on potential employees and discuss results with hiring managers. Review job applications to determine if candidates are eligible. Ensuring all candidates are fairly considered. Discuss any concerns with hiring managers.

Administrative Task:

Prepare Personnel Action Requests (PARs) in People First, use various computer programs to manage recruitment data and create reports. Provide supervisors with management reports and create visual aids like graphs and charts for presentations. Maintains and compiles data related to recruitment and other management areas. REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must possess two years of human resource experience in Recruitment. Must possess one year of experience reading background results from the National Crime Information Center.
Must be willing to work in office Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
