PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Career Planner is responsible for providing services consisting of counseling, job development, and assist the job developer in job placement through personal and telephone contacts with employers, and general follow-up, whereas to identify, determine and find opportunities for employment in our communities most appropriate for our participants in the Youth Program.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Develops jobs in the community and creates strong relationships with Employers that will benefit our participants and lead to full time employment. 2. Conducts outreach/recruitment efforts in the community, while developing a job bank. 3. Provides employment counseling to participants before, during and after placement. 4. Interviews prospective participants evaluates participants for placement and matches the clients skills to employers based on experience, capacity, language skills, and physical requirements. 5. Maintains appropriate participant records as well as enters information into central computer system. Updates records on a regular basis. 6. Performs follow-up with participants and employers; maintaining and building up strong relationships in the community.

JOB EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology or a related field and/or education may be substituted for five years of experience in job developing, job placement, case management, or other environments providing customer service and attention or care to the public and/or social services. 2.

Bilingual:

English and Spanish, written and spoken preferred. 3. Good interpersonal communication skills. 4. Computer literacy a most.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Use of his/her own vehicle to perform job requirements. 2. Maintain a valid Driver’s License; in addition to insurance and registration. Must be current. 3. May be evaluated at any time partly based on performance of the tasks listed in this job description.
