POSITION DESCRIPTION

: Supports the department of Admissions by developing a recruitment territory while maintaining an awareness of developments within the territory and establishing long term relationships to meet enrollment goals; engaging in the recruitment of top student prospects (first-year students); reading and evaluating (first-year student) admission files; and performing data entry for the Office of Admissions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Counseling and advising potential new students Traveling, making presentations at high schools, colleges and admission programs Interviewing prospective students Responding to all student inquires by telephone, e-mail, or mail Maintaining a list of names to be shared with faculty, coaches, and student admission assistants who will contact top student prospects as appropriate Read and evaluate (first-year student) admission files for assigned geographic territories Entering information through admission database system as needed throughout the recruitment cycle

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required and/or one or more years of related experience Master’s degree and/or two or more years of experience in professionally related field required for consideration of initial appointment to senior admission recruiter Must have a valid driver’s license, complete a driver training program and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record

SCHEDULE

: Full-time salaried position required to work a varied schedule Evening, weekend work and travel will be required (most travel occurs between September and November and to a lesser extent between March and May; approximately 8 to 10 weeks travel in fall, approximately 3 to 4 weeks travel in spring); overnight travel is required.

Within discussions, the ability to respond in an honest and positive manner while anticipating what the speaker may request and need to hear Demonstrated customer service skills to provide an experience for prospective students and families that is unique and special to Saint Joseph’s College Must demonstrate teamwork skills and a willingness to help others Possess a positive attitude to foster a cohesive working environment Demonstrated technology knowledge and experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office products Must have excellent writing and decision making skills Demonstrated organization and time management skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize tasks Proven ability to work in a team-oriented, multi-task, goal attaining environment Ability to maintain a positive attitude Able to work with a wide range of people Comfortable making presentations to groups Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion Tolerates work related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism About Saint Joseph’s College of Maine Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1912, Saint Joseph’s College is Maine’s only Catholic college.
