Exempt Position Summary:

The Manager of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment for Kansas City Public Schools is a key leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive strategies for attracting, recruiting, and selecting highly qualified and diverse staff. This position manages the full recruitment life cycle, ensuring an efficient, equitable, and positive candidate experience. The Manager will drive innovative recruitment initiatives, leverage data analytics, and collaborate closely with district leaders and HR teams to meet the staffing needs of the district and support its educational mission.

What You’ll Be Doing:

(Responsibilities)

Strategic Recruitment Leadership & Planning:

Develop and execute strategic recruitment plans and initiatives to address district-wide staffing needs. Identify and implement innovative recruitment strategies, sourcing channels, and outreach activities to build a robust and diverse talent pipeline. Analyze recruitment data and metrics (e.g., time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, diversity metrics) to assess effectiveness and continuously improve talent acquisition processes. Stay abreast of talent market trends, compensation benchmarks, and best practices in educational recruitment.

Full Recruitment Lifecycle Management:

Oversee and manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from vacancy posting and candidate sourcing to interviewing, offer extension, and onboarding coordination. Ensure a seamless, positive, and efficient candidate experience throughout the recruitment and selection process. Collaborate with the HRIS team to leverage systems (e.g., TalentEd) for applicant tracking, data management, and reporting.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

Provide training and coaching to hiring managers and interview panels on effective interviewing techniques, fair hiring practices, and talent selection. Collaborate closely with school principals, department heads, and other district leaders to understand staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, and facilitate timely hiring decisions. Partners with District leadership in the areas of; staff recognition, employee retention, employee experience, data presentations, etc. Partner with other HR functions (e.g., HR Operations, Employee Relations) to ensure integrated HR support.

Branding & Outreach:

Enhance KCPS’s employer brand as an employer of choice, developing compelling recruitment marketing materials and campaigns. Represent KCPS at recruitment fairs, university events, professional conferences, and community engagement opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with university career services, teacher preparation programs, and professional organizations.

Ensure all recruitment and hiring practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, district policies, and collective bargaining agreements. Promotes diverse backgrounds, striving for a workforce that reflects the richly diverse backgrounds of the student population. Support HR audits related to recruitment and staffing data. This Job, You’ll Need To:

(Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or a related field. Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in talent acquisition or recruitment. Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, interviewing techniques, and effective recruitment strategies. Strong understanding of HR principles, employment law, and best practices in talent management. Proficiency in applicant tracking systems (e.g., TalentEd) and creative platforms such as Canva and Photoshop. Exceptional interpersonal, communication (verbal, written, and presentation), and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse candidates and stakeholders. This Role, You’ll Need:

(Preferred Qualifications) Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, Certified Professional in Recruitment – CPR). Experience with international recruitment for certified staff. Demonstrated success in reducing time-to-hire and improving candidate quality in a high-volume recruitment environment.

Physical Demands:

This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. The job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
