Job Summary:

The Director of Training and Learning & Development will lead the design, implementation, and evolution of a company-wide learning strategy. This role ensures that everything being taught is built the right way, to be most impactful, using: Instructional design standards Adult learning theory Blended learning strategies (online, documentation, instructor-led, etc.) LMS infrastructure and governance They will lead the creation and execution of a strategy that supports onboarding, job readiness, manager capability, leadership development, and ongoing development for all employees. Supporting the Sr. Manager of Technical Trainer, they will oversee the creation of all technical learning, compliance, and leadership development that is provided to our clients. This role is responsible for building scalable training infrastructure and content that supports execution in the field, and career growth for our employees. The ideal candidate is hands-on—able to shape learning plans with leaders and also roll up their sleeves to create content, implement tools, and measure results.

    Yes Duties/Responsibilities:

    Learning Strategy & Leadership Development Develop and lead a comprehensive L&D strategy that supports business goals, safety culture, and employee development at all levels. Build partnerships across HR, Operations, and Safety to define learning needs by role, location, and function. Lead the governance and implementation of a consistent, competency-aligned learning framework. Define and maintain structured career pathways and learning plans aligned to functional competencies and development milestones. Collaborate with department leaders to define the skills and knowledge needed for success and progression within each role. Program Design & Execution Oversee training programs including: Onboarding and job-specific readiness Leadership and management development Compliance and safety training (in partnership with Safety and Risk) Functional skill development (e.g., systems, service protocols, SOPs) Design and implement learning pathways that blend live, digital, and on-the-job training approaches. Oversee the training content lifecycle—from intake and creation through updates, version control, and retirement—to ensure accuracy, relevance, and consistency. Incorporate micro-learning strategies into content design to drive retention, accessibility, and just-in-time support for frontline and field-based roles. Ensure that development programs are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with our talent planning and succession processes. Build and support a train-the-trainer model Support localized certified trainers to scale learning delivery. Define and maintain training standards and documentation protocols. Partner with Safety, Risk, and Operations to support audit readiness and provide learning solutions where compliance gaps are identified. Ensure compliance training programs meet regulatory and legal requirements in collaboration with HR, Risk, and Legal. Maintain accurate records and reporting for audit readiness and re-certification cycle Technology, Measurement & Improvement Lead the selection, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Learning Management System (LMS). Establish metrics and dashboards to track participation, effectiveness, and training completion and pass rates. Use feedback, audit results, and performance data to continuously improve learning content and delivery.

    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Education, Organizational Development, or related field; advanced degree or L&D certifications a plus.
    • 5-7 years of progressive experience in internal learning and development, preferably in logistics, distribution, or field-based service industries.
    • Demonstrated success building and delivering programs in fast-paced, operational environments.
    • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, behavior-based training design, and blended learning methods.
    • Experience implementing and managing LMS platforms
    • Strong collaborator and communicator, with the ability to influence leaders and partner across departments.

Use of a tablet and mobile phone for routing, customer communication, and documentation. Ability to navigate stairs within the office. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to use standard office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Occasional lifting of office supplies and materials. Regular travel to various markets May need to work extended hours based on business needs, with some occasional air travel required. Time split between home offices on a computer, or on the road meeting with employees Frequent participation in both in-person and virtual meetings. Support operations in various environments, including warehouses, driving and outdoor settings.
