JOB SUMMARY

The Business and Industry Services Specialist is responsible for coordinating assigned operations within the Economic Development Division, with a strong emphasis on aligning training programs with current and emerging industrial systems, technologies, and workforce needs. This role serves as a liaison between the college and local businesses to ensure the delivery of responsive, high-quality, and industry-relevant training.

MAJOR DUTIES

Maintains contact with business and industry leaders to stay abreast of technological advances, regulatory changes, and workforce development trends;
Promotes the college’s continuing education and customized training programs to private and public organizations;
Assesses training needs and designs workforce development programs tailored to current industrial systems and technologies;
Conducts or coordinates training for regional businesses and industries, both on

  • and off-site;
    Schedules and oversees delivery of training to ensure alignment with employer needs and industry standards;
    Oversees Course Evaluations, compiles feedback, and measures training outcomes for continuous improvement;
    Manages inventory and procurement of instructional equipment and supplies, ensuring alignment with current industry practices;
    Ensures compliance with safety protocols and OSHA standards during training activities;
    Maintains records on existing businesses and the training provided;
    Exhibits professionalism, excellent customer service, and responsiveness to customers, organizational co-workers, and other general public contacts;
    Meets departmental and division deadlines and maintains accurate reporting documentation;
    Supports a collaborative work environment and promotes team and institutional credibility through positive conduct;
    Applies problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to support quality training outcomes;
    Adheres to all State Board and college policies and procedures;
    Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and staff development; and
    Performs other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of current industrial and manufacturing systems
Knowledge of community and industry training needs, workforce development practices, and industry-recognized certifications
Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards, including OSHA Safety Standards
Skill in assessing training needs and developing instructional solutions
Proficiency in the use of computers, presentation tools, and job-related software programs
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive partnerships with industry leaders
Organizational and time management skills
Ability to analyze problems, recommend solutions, and implement changes effectively

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree

  • and• Three (3) years of experience in a business environment
Note:

Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the minimum qualifications: In-depth knowledge of industrial and manufacturing processes, equipment, and training methods, particularly in the context of workforce development and customized training solutions.
Familiarity with the regional business and industry landscape, particularly within Thomas, Grady, Decatur, and Seminole counties and may include other Southwest Georgia counties within SRTC’s service area (Mitchell, Colquitt, Miller, Early, Worth, Tift, and Turner), as needed.
