Full-Time Position Overview The Director of Coaching (DOC) at Catawba Valley Youth Soccer Association (CVYSA) is a key leadership position responsible for setting and maintaining the technical direction, culture, and development pathway of the club. The DOC provides strategic oversight of all soccer programming and leads the coaching staff in alignment with CVYSA’s mission, vision, and core values. As a senior leader within the organization, the DOC is accountable for establishing a consistent, high-quality soccer experience, fostering a growth-minded coaching culture, and ensuring player development across all levels. The DOC embodies the values of BLAST—Believe, Lead, Attitude, Sacrifice, and Team—in every aspect of their role. Key Responsibilities  Provides consistent, hands-on leadership and support to the club’s coaching staff, players, and families.  Designs, implements, and updates the club-wide coaching curriculum based on U.S. Soccer best practices and CVYSA’s developmental philosophy.  Recruits, hires, assigns, and mentors coaches for both recreational and competitive programs.  Conducts regular coaching education sessions and performance evaluations to support staff growth and consistency.  Establishes clear player development pathways from grassroots through competitive levels.  Oversees player evaluations, tryouts, and team placements with fairness, transparency, and alignment to club standards.  Collaborates with coaches and families to track and support player development throughout the year.  Maintains strong internal communication with club leadership and serves as a key liaison with external leagues and governing bodies.  Upholds and promotes a club-wide culture of inclusion, teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.  Represents CVYSA at community events, tournaments, league meetings, and other public engagements. Leadership Responsibilities  Leads with integrity and consistency, modeling CVYSA’s mission and core values in all interactions.  Serves as a culture builder within the club—energizing coaches, uniting teams under a shared vision, and maintaining a high standard of excellence.  Promotes collaboration, initiative, and innovation across the coaching staff.  Holds staff accountable to program standards and supports them in meeting expectations through mentorship and education. Qualifications  Holds a minimum of a U.S. Soccer “C” License; “B” or “A” License is preferred.  Brings substantial experience in youth soccer coaching and managing coaching staff at various levels.  Demonstrates excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.  Possesses a deep understanding of player development models, coaching methodology, and long-term athlete development principles.  Has experience with both recreational and competitive environments.  Is proficient in using PlayMetrics for team management, communication, and planning.  Maintains current SafeSport certification and has passed all required background checks. Compensation & Status  Annual salary: $75,000-$85,000  Full-time, exempt employee  Eligible for professional development reimbursement and additional benefits as approved by the Board. Performance Review & Accountability The Director of Coaching’s performance is evaluated annually by the President and/or Board of Directors, based on:  Staff development and retention  Player development benchmarks  Program consistency and growth  Adherence to CVYSA’s mission, vision, and values  Overall organizational leadership and contribution
