Component Testing & Training Technician Persistent Systems Miami Lakes, FL 33014 About the Role We are seeking a Component Development Technician to join our team at the Miami Lakes Learning Center. This hands-on, technical role provides essential support to our instructors and customers by ensuring classroom readiness, maintaining equipment, and delivering an outstanding training experience for dealer technicians. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role with a clear growth path into a Service Training Instructor position for the right candidate. Key ResponsibilitiesTraining Lab & Classroom Support Set up and verify engines and equipment for hands-on training sessions. Ensure classrooms and labs are fully equipped and functional (tools, parts, AV tech). Troubleshoot technical equipment issues (monitors, touchscreens, microphones, etc.). Support instructors in preparing for and delivering up to 3 training classes per week. Customer Experience & Facility Operations Welcome and assist dealer customers and training attendees, delivering a seamless experience. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment throughout the facility. Perform routine building maintenance (e.g., ceiling tile replacement, light repairs). Support occasional customer events in the on-site auditorium. Technical Maintenance & Safety Compliance Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on training assets. Conduct routine inspections (first aid kits, AEDs, diesel tanks, safety checks). Use equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and lifts for transporting materials. Maintain safety inventory (glasses, absorbents, batteries) and oversee disposal procedures.
Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience :
Associate’s degree in Electronics, Diesel Technology, or related field and 2-4 years technical experience, OR High school diploma/GED and 4-8+ years technical experience (8+ for max rate consideration). Bachelor’s degree is acceptable with at least 2 years of related experience.
Technical Skills :
Familiarity with mechanical/electrical systems (preferably equipment). Experience with preventive maintenance, equipment setup, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Able to lift/push 25 lbs, climb ladders, and perform some work outdoors.
Soft Skills :
Strong verbal and written English communication (Spanish is a plus). Positive, team-oriented attitude with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Resourceful problem-solver – able to fix issues independently or find solutions quickly. Emotionally intelligent, customer-service mindset, and adaptable in a fast-paced setting. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with engines, tools, or diagnostic systems. Previous work in a training, lab, or facility maintenance environment. Desire to grow into an Instructor role over time. Additional Info Onsite interview required (typically scheduled after 4 PM to include instructor participation). Occasional Saturday availability needed (approx. once/month, with OT pay). This position is key to ensuring world-class technical training for dealer network and customers.
